ADD78 - Meazel, Xvart, Synad and Mite

This set of figures depicted some of the low-level dungeon lowlife featured in the Fiend Folio, an AD&D monster supplement published by TSR UK in 1981. They were sold in blister packs containing 4 figures, a Meazel, a Xvart, a Snyad and a Mite. Strangely, there were 2 different Meazel poses (with garotting cord or two-handed sword) and 3 different Xvarts (with net, sword or axe.) Each figure seems to have had 5 variants, for a total of 35 different castings in this code! The only variant details of each pose seem to be in head and facial features.

ADD78 - Meazel with Garrotte

This is the first of two Meazel poses, holding a leather garrotte in both hands in front of his chest. Each has the typical Meazel haircut, styled into 2 horn-like peaks.

• 

  Meazel with Garrotte A. This variant has a wide-open mouth, with his left fist held very close to it. The peaks on this variant are fairly short and straight.

• 

  Meazel with Garrotte B. This variant has a partly-open mouth, with his chin resting on his right fist. The hair-peaks on this variant are fairly short and upwards-curving.

• 

  Meazel with Garrotte C. This variant has an open, toothy mouth, partly concealed by his left fist. His hair-peaks are fairly long and slightly upwards-curving.

• 

  Meazel with Garrotte D. This variant has a wide-open, toothy mouth, half concealed by his left fist. His hair-peaks are fairly long and thick and slightly upwards-curving.

• 

  Meazel with Garrotte E. This variant has a closed mouth with a smug smile and slitted eyes. His hair peaks are long and straight while his central tuft is quite flat.

ADD78 - Meazel with Sword

This is the second Meazel pose, armed with a two-handed sword. Each has the typical Meazel haircut, styled into 2 horn-like peaks.

  Meazel with Sword A. This variant has an open mouth and his hair peaks are fairly long, straight and upwards pointing. The head looks straight forwards.

• 

  Meazel with Sword B. This Meazel variant has an open mouth, and his hair peaks are fairly long and upwards curving. His head is tilted and looks sharply to the left.

• 

  Meazel with Sword C. This variant has a wide-open mouth and his hair peaks are fairly long and upwards curving. His head looks slightly to the left.

• 

  Meazel with Sword D. This Meazel has an open mouth and his hair peaks are long and flat. He looks straight ahead.

• 

  Meazel with Sword E. This variant is looking straight forwards, but has a smaller central tuft of hair than variant A.

ADD78 - Xvart with Axe

This is another large Xvart, wielding and axe in his left hand and pointing with his right.

  Xvart with Axe A. This variant wears a conical helmet with a spiked top, a plain steel rim and chainmail cheekguards and neckguard. His mouth is partly open in a toothy grimace and he wears a plain ring through his nose.

• 

  Xvart with Axe B. This variant wears a helmet with a conical, fluted top, a pointed, beak-like peak and a wide, rivetted neckguard. His wide mouth is open in a toothy smile.

• 

  Xvart with Axe C. This Xvart variant wears a round, fitted helmet with an ornate top-spike, and 4 decorative rivets. His mouth is closed in a downturned frown.

• 

  Xvart with Axe D. This Xvart wears a rounded helmet with 7 decorative rivets and top spike. His mouth is closed and he has 4 large teeth poking out from his top lip.

  Xvart with Axe E. This variant has a kettle helmet with band on the front with 2 rivets at either side. He has a large tuft of hair sticking out the top of the helmet and an open mouth with tongue sticking out.

ADD78 - Xvart with Net

This Xvart figure holds a weighted net in both hands.

• 

  Xvart with Net A. This variant has a short, mohican-style haircut with a long braid at the back. He looks straight forwards, with his mouth wide open in a shout, revealing small, sharp teeth and a protruding tongue.

• 

  Xvart with Net B. This variant has a 'flat-top' hairstyle with long sideburns. He looks to his right, with his mouth closed, with 2 long lower fangs protruding.

• 

  Xvart with Net C. This variant has a short haircut with a slightly longer patch on top, and he has a stubbly chin. He looks to his right, with his mouth closed but with 4 lower teeth protruding.

• 

  Xvart with Net D. This variant has a bald head and a stubbly chin. He looks to his right, with his mouth closed with a grim look on his face, and he has a plain ring through his nose.

• 

  Xvart with Net E. This variant has a bald head and long sideburns. He has his head raised upwards and looks to the right. His mouth is a toothy snarl.

ADD78 - Xvart with Sword

This is a larger Xvart, armed with a curved sword.

• 

  Xvart with Sword A. This variant has a tall topknot, long, pointed ears and his mouth is open in a snarl. He is looking sharply to his left.

• 

  Xvart with Sword B. This variant is completely bald, with long, pointed ears. His mouth is closed, with curved lower fangs protruding. He is looking upwards and sharply to his right.

• 

  Xvart with Sword C. This variant has a bald top of the head, but long, straggly hair running down his back. He has short, pointed ears and his tooth-lined mouth is open in a shout. He is looking sharply to his right.

• 

  Xvart with Sword D. This variant has a short, curly hair and a stubbly chin. He has short, pointed ears and his mouth is closed and downwards curved. He is looking to his right.

• 

  Xvart with Sword E. This variant has a short, curly hair, long whispy sideburns and a stubbly chin. He has large, pointed ears and his mouth is open in a toothy snarl. He is looking upwards and to his right.

ADD87 - Snyad

The Snyad figure is depicted running forwards with a barbed dagger raised above his head.

  Snyad A. This variant has his hair tied into 6 braids and he looks downwards with his head tilted slightly to the right. His mouth is closed and he has a slightly quizzical look on his face.

• 

  Snyad B. This variant has long, straggly hair at the back, with a single braid hanging over each of his long, pointed ears. He looks downwards and straight forwards, and his mouth is closed in an evil-looking grin.

• 

  Snyad C. This Snyad has short, curly hair with a single braid at the back and a barid hanging over each short, pointed ear. His head looks downwards and straight on, and his mouth is closed but has protruding lower teeth.

• 

  Snyad D. This variant has long, straggly hair at the back, with a single braid hanging over each of his short, pointed ears. He looks downwards and straight forwards, and his wide mouth is open in a toothy snarl.

• 

  Snyad E. This figure has long hair tied into 3 braids at the back, with a single braid hanging over each of his long, pointed ears. He looks downwards and straight forwards, and his mouth is wide open as if shouting.

ADD78 - Mite

The Mite figure is depicted running forwards, holding a wooden club in both hands.

  Mite A. This variant has long, pointed ears and a whispy beard along his lower jaw. His mouth is closed and he has a single plain ring through his nose.

• 

  Mite B. This variant has short, pointed ears and a straggly beard along his lower jaw. His mouth is partly open in a toothy snarl.

• 

  Mite C. This variant has long, pointed ears and a whispy beard along his lower jaw. His mouth is wide open, showing off his sharp teeth.

• 

  Mite D. This variant has long, pointed ears and a long beard which is modeled in contact with his club. His mouth is closed.

• 

  Mite E. This variant has long, pointed ears and a whispy beard along his lower jaw. He is scowling and his mouth is open, showing off his sharp lower teeth.
