LANGUAGE

In the Eldar tongue, known as LamEldannar, the Eldar language is intricate and complex. The best and most complete study on the Eldar language compiled from all GW sources can be found at: www.ed.ac.uk/~daviddo/ELDAR/

LASER WEAPONRY

Eldar laser weapons are highly advanced, utilising focused light beams to cause traumatic temperature changes on the target. Artificially grown crystals filter and refine the beam to optimum power and potency. Ranged laser weapons include the bright lance, scatter laser, lasblaster and prism cannon, crystalline matrices storing up energy and then firing in rapid bursts or high-powered shots. Laser technology is also used in close combat weaponry such as the laser lance employed by the Shining Spears aspect warriors (see Shining Spears; Shuriken Weaponry; Weaponry).

LANTHRILAQ THE SWIFT

An ancient Eldar hero and leader of the Eldar peoples, Lanthrilaq the Swift battled alongside the war-god Khaine and the houses of Ulthanash and Eldanesh against the Yngir. Lanthrilaq was gifted one of the hundred Swords of Vaul in the last battle, but it was to prove the undoing of the Eldar. Fighting in a great circle, each armed with a Sword of Vaul, one hundred Eldar heroes held back the hordes of the Yngir. But after a time, the Necrons discovered a weak point in the defences, for Lanthrilaq's Blade Wraith was merely a mortal blade, and tiring, his blade blunt. The ring of warriors buckled and broke, leaving Khaine facing the mighty Kaelis Ra (see also Eldanesh; Kaela Mensha Khaine; Kaelis Ra; Swords of Vaul; Ulthanash; Vaul; Yngir).

LAVAIR

A Lavair is the Craftworld Eldar honoured with being the spokesperson and official welcomer of his or her Craftworld to a visiting Harlequin Troupe (see Harlequins).

LILEATH

Lileath the Maiden forms one third of the trinity of Eldar goddesses with Isha and Morai-Heg. She is the goddess of dreams and fortune and dreamt the destruction of Khaine to a mortal army. The dream led to the separation of the Eldar from the gods and the War in Heaven (See also Gods; Isha; Kaela Mensha Khaine; Morai-Heg; Tears of Isha; Vaul).

LSATHRANIL

Farseer of Ulthwé, prophesied the return of the Yngir from their sleep (see also Craftworlds; Yngir).

LUGGANATH (LIGHT OF FALLEN SUNS)

Lugganath is a small Craftworld located in the Segmentum Obscurus. The Craftworld was almost completely destroyed four centuries ago when they lost control of the warp gates onboard their Craftworld, Luggannath, allowing the Daemons of the warp to enter and attack them. Now the Eldar of Lugganath are seen as renegades by other craftworlds; they foster close ties with the Harlequins with hopes of retreating into the webway. Lugganath’s traditional colours are orange and black, their rune is that of the sunrise (see Craftworlds; Fir Iolarion; Harlequins; Webway).
